Wesser Sponsorship!

What’s that, a blog post in the middle of the week!? Yes, that’s right, we have another sponsor! The guys at Wesser have offered us funding towards the ambulances and the journey. Be sure to check out their website at http://www.thestudentjob.co.uk for more details on the fantastic student opportunities that they offer. Greg had a great time working for them over the summer.

We would just like to say a big thank you to the  Wesser guys for their support!

New Sponsor!

Another week of exciting news! We have been offered funding from ECS-Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton. This is especially exciting for us as five members of the team have spent the past four years studying in the department so to get their support is fantastic.
The contribution will be invaluable towards getting the ambulances (and team) to Mongolia so we would like to say a huge thank you to them and to the ECS alumni whose donations for student development have made this possible!

Also the observant followers of the team may have noticed that we have reached our minimum fundraising target required by GOHelp of £2000. This adds another green light to our journey passport which takes us a step closer to being allowed to leave. Thanks to everyone for their donations and we are hoping to see how much more we can raise for the journey and charity!
In other news the Gallery has been updated with the photos taken of the team and the ambulances as mentioned in last week’s blog entry. Also the Visa processing stage is still on going with no problems so far! ( I hope I haven’t just jinxed that…..)

Lots of Things!

Hello intrepid watchers of this space. It has been a busy 3 weeks since our last blog update, let me tell you…

Firstly the ever helpful Joyce from ECS had 1000 very professional A5 leaflets printed for us, to be distributed as we see fit.

Then Matt Lokes put in a sterling effort and made us a team’s worth of awesome t-shirts, with a promise of more to come.

All the visa applications got sent off in a big package, and they seem to be doing well, judging from the regular email updates we’ve been getting.

Then we got round to taking some team photos with the ambulances, and the weather managed to stay pretty nice, so we’ll look pretty cool when they get used in the University paper after Easter, and (fingers crossed) in some local papers as well. That is if Rich ever manages to sort through them all…

Also a big thank-you for the generous donations from family back in Essex when Greg returned for Easter Break. Especially ‘The Dymond’ parents Chris & Sharon, Grandad Dennis & Barbara and Auntie Tracey and Uncle Tony. Every donation is making our journey to Mongolia that much easier.

Pictures of everything should be up in the Gallery soon, if not already, so head on over!

It’s all starting to come together!

It’s been a big week! We’ve booked our flights back from Ulaanbaatar and we’ll be flying through Beijing! We’re all pretty excited about this as we’ll get to experience a bit of Chinese culture in the 18 hours between our flights! Although we’re not sure if we can leave the airport when we’re there it’ll still be awesome!

We also have two ambulances, ready and waiting for their epic journey! Check out our Gallery for pics!

Exciting News

So the sdop team have had a pretty exciting few weeks, sorry for being too busy to write a blog entry but we promise we will try harder to keep this blog up to date with our various adventures!

Big news this week is that our friend Matt Lokes has joined the team, bringing with him (hopefully) some professionally printed hoodies and Tshirts so that we can make our journey in style. Matt is a fantastic addition to the team and we are very excited for what he will to add to our adventure. Get on over to the team page to learn about Matt.

Nextly, we have got a vehicle sign-age company involved, allowing our Ambulances to really look the part…more details on this coming soon!

Finally I can reveal some more pictures of our first ambulance have been taken. Our friend Dave @ukambulancesales will be delivering our next Ambulance on Thursday so excitement all round here!

Our First Sponsor!

Hi Guys,

You know how we were telling you that we started sending out letters to sponsors? Well, we got our first yes! Cinch! pop up tents have let us know that they are willing to cover our tenting needs for the trip and a couple more on top!

We’ll be receiving the tents early next year and we’ll let you how awesome they most probably are (I’m fairly certain it will involve some competition as to who can erect a tent the quickest) We’ll also use the extra tents as prizes for some kind of competition so watch this space!

Our Route Done!

Although we’ve not updated our blog for a while that doesn’t mean that we haven’t been hard at work behind the scenes! Our route is now finished – we’ll be travelling through 22 countries on our way to Mongolia including the Ukraine, Iran and Kazakhstan.

We’ll also be seeing some pretty cool stuff on the way including the Gates of Hell, the Transfăgărășan Road and the Nürburgring!

We’ve had an interview for our first media coverage which we’ll link too when it appears and the first wave of sponsorship letters have gone out to companies. Now we just wait for responses…

First Post!!

So, first post on the brand new website!

Thought I’d start by saying how excited we all are about getting started! We’ve already made our first purchase: a broken 1.5KW inverter(more on this later) to power our laptops and our hotplate (for cooking) 😀

We also set up a paypal account to accept donations* (kindly accepting donations at donations@sixdegreesofprocrastination.com) and a JustGiving account to raise funds for our charity, Go Help UK.

* We are accepting donations in two ways, you can either donate straight to our charity Go Help UK through the JustGiving site or help us buy, equip and fuel the two ambulances all the way to Ulaanbaatar by donating via PayPal (amongst other ways) as above. You can find more about this here

Thanks!
